From 1.03.2021 in accordance with the requirements of EU legislation Hitline company introduced the company’s energy efficiency labelling of products. The regulation on energy labelling (2019/2018) allows not only to control energy consumption but also represents new opportunity for manufacturers of refrigeration equipment to demonstrate commitment to the most transparent and optimal manufacturing processes.
As well as the Ecodesign Regulation (2019/2024) the Regulation on the labelling of energy efficiency of refrigeration equipment with the function of direct sales was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on December 5, 2019 and enters into force on March 1, 2021.
WHAT IS ENERGY EFFICIENCY LABELLING?
Energy efficiency labelling Regulation (2019/2018) establishes rules for correct transfer of information on the degree of energy saving for all commercial refrigeration equipment (with some exceptions).
Labelling ranks refrigeration equipment on classes A to G based on their energy efficiency and also provides information on its’ impact on the environment.
INFORMATION ON THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY LABEL
The energy efficiency label draft allows to tell the difference between beverage refrigerators, ice cream freezers and all other refrigeration units with direct sales function.
The energy efficiency label contains information on electricity consumption and other information (see below).
PURPOSE OF LABELLING
The purpose of labelling is to minimize the impact of energy consumption on the environment by encouraging and stimulation of sales of more efficient equipment with less electricity consumption. It is also stimulating market development in accordance with the objectives of sustainable development of the European Union.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY CLASSES A-G
Thy are expressed using Energy Efficiency Index (EEI) values. The lower the EEI, the higher the energy efficiency and the lower the power consumption are. Class A is the most effective; class G is the least efficient.
The next few years classes A and B will be almost empty since they belong to the ideal efficiency that needs to be pursued. But so far they are not available on the market. The ability to innovate refrigeration companies will naturally lead to the development and deployment of increasingly high-quality products that will eventually fill these first two most efficient classes.
OBLIGATIONS OF MANUFACTURERS AND DISTRIBUTORS
MANUFACTURERS
Manufacturers need to supply all equipment delivered to the market with a printed label that meets the requirements of EU legislation for the format and information to be posted.
Manufacturers must also provide a product file with relevant technical data for all equipment and, if requested by regulatory authorities, provide a complete list of technical documentation regulated by EU laws.
DISTRIBUTORS
Distributors are required to label all devices provided by the manufacturer. Wherever they are exhibited and sold including the exhibitions.
DATA
All energy efficiency labels are provided with a QR code the scanning of which allows to view the list of technical characteristics of the equipment and all mandatory information about them. This information is located in a single European database EPREL controlled by EU supervisory authorities.
Thanks to this label, customers can also get acquainted with the full information (passport) about the product by going to the EPREL website and receiving a printed copy.
